Have you ever heard this old saying????

Whistling girls and crowing hens always come to the same bad end!

Ever hear this before????

I read it in a book recently and I remember having heard this before but at first I couldn't remember exactly how it went, so I asked nearly a dozen people yesterday (all different ages) and no one had ever heard it before.

I thought it was funny and wondered what folks found so "bad" about girls who liked to whistle.

By the way.....I LOVE to whistle....oh no....LOL

On the road again

Yes, I LOVE accessing the internet while traveling in the car...not driving but as a passenger "mom".

We are heading to Kentucky for our son's graduation from Basic and Advanced training in the Army. He has become a "Tanker". We have not seen him since he returned right after Christmas.

As usual we did not leave "on time". Whenever we leave for any type of road trip we can't ever seem to leave in a timely fashion. I told my husband that since we were looking at an 8 hour drive that I wanted to leave by noon; hoping that we could get on the road by 2pm. We didn't leave our small town until close to 5pm.

We really don't have to be in Kentucky until tomorrow evening but there was no way I was leaving Thursday and stressing out all day hoping we would make it in time for the dinner and reception. This way, we can sleep in tomorrow (since we'll be arriving quite late) and enjoy a relaxed afternoon until we go to the "party".

What a world we live in. I remember traveling as a kid and even when my kids were young; we would be enjoying the scenery, playing the license plate game, singing songs and reading good books. But it's 2009 and times have 'a changed....
  • I am catching up on my email & working remotely accessing my office and home computers
  • My daughter and future daughter-in-law are watching a dvd on her laptop using earbuds
  • One son is listening to music via his ipod and headphones
  • One son is playing video games with his handheld device
  • And last but not least dad and I are listening to a great murder mystery audio book on CD
It does give everyone a choice of their own and I much say although they are mostly "adults" (I use this word loosely...lol) it reduces the amount of arguing!!

This will be our second trip to Fort Knox. This time our son's fiancee is joining us and we are all excited to see Drew. We will only get to visit with him for a few hours at the dinner tomorrow night and then again for just an hour after the graduation Friday morning. He will be ushered to a bus to the airport and then be on his way to California. As Fort Irwin which will soon be his new home is nearly 3000 miles from us I don't imagine we'll be getting to see much of him for the remainder of his enlistment (3 years). Although his fiancee did find a round trip air fare for only $37; hooray for Priceline!!!

Well I'll post again soon. I'm having a hard time thinking about what I'm writing and trying to pay attention to the book on CD so I'll stop here. I'll let you know tomorrow what our hotel is like; I hope not too "scary" LOL.

Happy Trails
